Career Profile
I joined the employ of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) as an academic staff on the rank of Lecturer II in 2017. In 2020, I was promoted to the rank of Lecturer I having met the requirements for the promotion. In 2022, in conjunction with eight other academic staff from NOUN, and two other universities in Nigeria, we won a Joint Tetfund Research Grant to carry out a field-based study: "Setting an Agenda for Research into Open Distance and e-Learning in the Global South: Nigeria as a Case Study". Also, three other academic staff of NOUN and I won a Joint Senate Research Grant, and a Joint ACETEL Research Grant all in 2023.
I worked steadily, attending conferences, workshops, writing journal papers, carrying out assigned administrative and academic duties; these tasks enabled me to meet the requirements for the promotion to the rank of a Senior Lecturer in 2024. My research interests are on using linguistic tools to examine novel forms of language use in emerging off-line and online platforms where language is used to enact societal events and happenings. My journal articles are published in reputable journals in Nigeria and offshore. My most recent publication is "Generation Z’s Lingos On Tiktok: Analysis of Emerging Linguistic Structures", published by the Journal of Language and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia Press. I am currently serving as the study centre director of Awka study centre situated in Abagana, Anambra state.
