Career Profile
Casimir Houenon was a member of the Benin Experts sent to Nigeria in 1999 as part of the French language teaching programme following the declaration by the late General Sani Abacha to make French the country’s second official language. In November 2015, he defended his PhD thesis in Translation and Interpretation at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and was awarded the prize for best thesis. He is currently Lecturer of French and Translator at the National Open University of Nigeria, Visiting Lecturer at the Federal University of Lafia, and Keffi University. Casimir has received numerous awards for his contribution to the advancement of language teaching in Nigeria. He has been a facilitator in seminars and training workshops. He has also written and published numerous articles both in the field of French language teaching in Nigeria and on translation issue.
