Dr Uzoma Patience Agwu is a Senior Lecturer of French Language and Translation Studies in the Department of Linguistics, Foreign and Nigerian Languages, National Open University of Nigeria, Jabi Abuja. She was born on the 11th day of June 1974 in Ekoli Edda, Edda LGA of Ebonyi State,Nigeria.
She holds a B.A (FRENCH) 1997, M.A (TRANSLATIONS) 2006, Ph.D (TRANSLATIONS) 2015, all from Abia State University, Uturu.
She is a Bilingual Author, Research Consultant, Certified English-French-English-Ibo translator and an Erudite Scholar with a profound interest in language and translation. An outstanding student, she was the best graduating Arts student in OVOM model girls’ high school, Aba 1991 with many outstanding write-ups.
Her areas of specialization and research interest include Translations with special interest in Sci-Tech Translations-Economy and Women/Girl child Empowerment.
Dr.Uzoma is a member of several professional bodies including the Nigerian Institute of Translators and Interpreters(NITI) since 2017 where she is the Assistant General Secretary I, Chairman NITI Collaboration, Partnership & Internationalisation Committee, Member, NITI Bill Committee, Member, NITI Research, Training, Workshop and Publication Committee, Member, University French Teachers Association of Nigeria(UFTAN), Member, Linguistics Association of Nigeria (LAN) and other academic associations. She is a fellow, Nigerian Institute of Translators and Interpreters(NITI).
She has many well researched published journal articles and books to her credit and has travelled widely for research & paper presentations. She has been accessed as an Associate Professor in 2018.
